Painting & drywall, done right.

Honest, careful work for Central Virginia homeowners — interior and exterior painting, drywall repair, and the finishing touches that make a house feel like home.

Before and after.

A freshly painted living room with clean walls, trim, and updated finishes.

The situation

The walls had years of wear — nail holes, a patched leak, scuffs along the hallway, and old trim paint that had yellowed. The homeowner wanted it to feel new without a full remodel.

What we did

Drywall patched and sanded flush. Trim caulked, re-primed, and finished in a bright white. Walls rolled in two coats of warm off-white. Same room, completely different feeling — and a finish that'll hold up.

The situation

A mid-renovation space with rough drywall, taped seams, and an uneven surface. The homeowner wanted a clean feature wall ready for a mounted TV, with no visible patches.

What we did

Seams floated and sanded to a smooth finish, primed, and rolled in a crisp neutral. Outlets cut in by hand. The wall now reads as one continuous surface — no seams, no patches, no telltale texture lines.

Prep the right way

This is where most paint jobs are made or broken. We patch and sand drywall, fill nail holes, caulk trim, mask off floors and fixtures, and prime where it counts — so the finish coat has a clean, solid surface to hold onto.

Paint & clean up

Two coats, crisp lines, even sheen. We walk every wall with you at the end to check for touch-ups before we pack out — and your home goes back to looking like a home, not a jobsite.

How we work

The Custom Touch is Shawn Baucom — a Central Virginia painter who shows up when he says he will, preps the job the right way, and treats every home like it's his own. Drop cloths laid down, trim taped off, drips cleaned up. No shortcuts on the parts you can't see.

Why homeowners call us back

Painting is half the job. The other half is the drywall patch that disappears, the trim line that stays crisp, and the walls that still look sharp five years later. We take the time to do the boring parts well — because that's what makes the finish last.

We’ve got answers.

Interior and exterior house painting, drywall install and repair, trim and cabinet painting, nail-hole and patch work, caulking, and the finish carpentry touches that go along with a paint job. If it shows up on a punch list, there’s a good chance we do it.

Yes — every time. We come out, walk the job with you, and send back a written estimate with a clear scope and price. No obligation and no pressure to book.

We work across Central Virginia — Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Staunton, Crozet, Afton, Nellysford, Lovingston, and the surrounding area. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll let you know.

A single room is usually one to two days. An interior repaint of a full home runs a week or two depending on square footage and prep. Exterior work depends on weather. We’ll give you a realistic timeline with the estimate and stick to it.

We’ll help. Most furniture gets pulled to the middle of the room and covered. Pictures, switch plates, curtain rods — we take them down and put them back. Fragile pieces are on you, but everything else we handle.

We use what fits the job — usually Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore for interiors, and products rated for exterior durability outside. If you have a brand or finish you prefer, tell us and we’ll use it.

Yes. Bring us a paint chip, a sample from the wall, or the original can and we’ll get it matched at the paint store before we start.

Yes — patching holes, re-taping seams, skim-coating textured walls, and repairing drywall after leaks are all part of what we do. We can usually match the existing texture so the repair disappears.

The job isn’t done until the room is. Drop cloths come up, tape comes off, fixtures go back on, and we haul out anything we brought in. You get the room back the way you had it — just with better walls.
